Troubleshooting

Installing the Detail Camera Extension

As of Detail 3.2, Detail comes with a camera extension using Apple’s latest API. This means you can use the Detail Camera everywhere, including FaceTime, Safari and even PhotoBooth but it does require some new security permissions.

When you first install Detail, you’ll see an alert that says “System Extension Blocked”. To enable the extension you’ll need to go to Security and Privacy pane in System Preferences. You’ll see a message that says “System software from application “Detail” was blocked from loading”. Click the lock at the bottom of the window to make changes (requires admin password) and then hit “Allow”.

We’ve tried to remove the old camera plugin for all users automatically but there’s a small chance you might have to delete it manually. If you see an alert in the app asking you to delete the old plugin, make sure you do or Detail won’t work in other apps.

Why is my video mirrored in Zoom, Meet, or other video calls?

Most video conferencing software displays a mirrored version of your self-view by default but only your own video preview is flipped — other guests will see your video in the correct orientation.

So when you use text or images in a Scene, they might appear mirrored for you in the video call software but will look correct for the audience or other guests on the call.

You can turn off video mirroring in Zoom, Google Meet and other platforms so your preview matches what the audience is seeing.

Detail currently only supports non-mirrored video because adding text and images to Scenes could get confusing with a mirrored preview!

I can't see the option to turn on cinematic blur

Cinematic blur is disabled when using an iPhone in 4K mode.

I can’t see Detail as an option in other video apps

After Installing Detail on your Mac and iOS device, you might need to restart video and streaming apps before they appear as camera options in other video software.

You can connect over a fast wifi connection or via USB. To connect over wifi, both your iPhone and Mac need to be a connected to the same network. USB offers the fastest and most way to connection, and also keeps your phone charged. Image quality on wifi might vary and some networks block internal traffic between devices.

When you launch Detail for iOS it should detect your computer and connect to Detail for MacOS. To use your iPhone with Detail, add a camera to your Scene and select your iPhone from the list of cameras.

You can use any of the lenses on your iOS device with Detail. When you’re selecting a camera, you’ll find the lens options below the camera previews. Depending on your iPhone model, you can choose the wide, ultra-wide, telephoto or selfie lens.
