Imagine you’ve just finished editing your video and you’re ready to post it on YouTube. But the work doesn’t end there does it? Now you need to spend time sifting through the video to find the most relevant parts. Finally, you’ll have to crop and edit 15-30 second clips in various formats and orientations for social media. That’s a lot of work! But now Detail can do it for you — all you have to do is share it! 

Our new highlights feature auto-magically generates short video clips from your long form content, along with titles, descriptions and captions in just one click! 

By harnessing the power of natural language AI, we’re able to generate accurate video transcriptions and use that text to identify the most important parts of your video. Then we package up those parts into short, shareable clips for use on all your favorite platforms!

Ok, but how does it work?

First you’ll need to record and edit your video in Detail. Check out this blog post to learn how. 

Then export your video to the Library. If you export a horizontal video, your highlights will be in horizontal format and likewise if you select vertical. So if you want to share different versions of your video simply switch to your preferred format and export it again.

Next, open the Library and hit “Create Highlights.” Your video will be uploaded to the Detail servers so we can generate your highlights and create the share page. If you’re not signed in to a Detail account, you’ll need to create one or sign in. Once it’s uploaded, your video might take a few minutes to process.

If your video is long enough, you should see a collection of AI-generated goodies underneath your video on the share page, including a title, description, hashtags and of course the highlights themselves.

Note: Highlights work best if your video is at least a couple of minutes long. If your video is too short it might generate less highlights or no highlights at all.

You can click “Send to phone” at the top of the page to get a QR code or link to get your video clips on your phone. You can also click on the “Show transcript” button at the top of the page to see your full video transcription. 

But wait, there’s more!

We’ll be bringing these AI-generated highlights into the Mac app in the near future so you can see them in the timeline, edit them and export them individually. In the meantime, you can speed up your video production workflow and share your content quicker  by giving the new highlights feature a try.
