Scrubbing through a video timeline looking for mistakes is one of the most tedious parts of editing. There's a faster way. With Detail, you can edit your entire video just by reading through a transcript and deleting what you don't want, no timeline scrubbing needed. This works especially well for podcasts, tutorials, and talking head videos. The more you talk, the more useful it gets.

Step 1: Import your video or record in Detail

Download Detail from the App Store, open the app and either record directly inside it or import a clip you already have from your camera roll.

Step 2: Open Edit with Text

On your timeline, tap the Edit with Text icon in the top corner, then tap Generate. Detail will create a full written transcript of everything you said in the video, every word, every sentence, right there as text on your screen.

Step 3: Remove what you don't want

Read through your transcript and find anything you want to cut. Swipe left on a phrase and it gets removed from the actual video automatically, not just the transcript. You never have to go back to the timeline.

If you have a lot of phrases to remove, tap Select and highlight multiple sections at once. Hit delete and they're all gone instantly, much faster than trimming clips one by one.

Step 4: Clean up silences and filler words

While you're in the transcript view, there are two more things worth doing before you export.

Tap Silences and Detail will tag all the dead air and awkward pauses in your video. Hit delete and they're gone. Then tap Filler Words and it'll tag every um and uh automatically. Delete those too. Both make a big difference to how your video sounds and flows without you having to find each one manually.

Step 5: Export your video

When you're happy with your edits, tap Export and save your video. Your whole video edited by just reading and deleting text.
