Saying "um" or "uh" on camera is something pretty much everyone does. The good news is you don't have to spend hours editing them out manually. Detail removes filler words automatically, and there are two ways to do it depending on how much control you want.
Step 1: Create a new project
Open the Detail app and tap the plus button to create a new project.
Step 2: Record your video
Don't think about filler words while you're recording. Just talk naturally. Detail will clean it up afterwards, so focus on what you're saying, not how you're saying it. When you're done, tap Stop.
Step 3: Choose your method
Method 1: Auto Edit
If you want a one-tap solution, go with Auto Edit. Tap it on your timeline and before it runs you'll see a toggle that says Cut Filler Words. Turn that on and Detail will remove every um and uh automatically. It'll also edit your full video and create both short and long form versions from it. Great if you want Detail to handle everything at once.
Method 2: Edit with Text
This one gives you more control and is worth getting familiar with. Tap Edit with Text on your timeline and Detail will generate a full transcript of everything you said. Once it's ready, tap Fillers at the top and Detail will tag every filler word in your video. Hit delete and they're gone, not just from the transcript but from the actual video.
Pro tip: while you're in there, also tap Silences and delete those too. It tightens everything up and makes your video flow a lot better.
Step 4: Export
Once you're done, export your video or save it as audio only if you're turning it into a podcast episode. Either way, you end up with a clean final product in a fraction of the time it would take to edit manually.
