If you’re a solo creator, coach, or professional making content on your own, you know the pain: juggling multiple video versions, duplicating projects just to try something new, and cluttered timelines that make editing overwhelming.
The problem?
Every time you want a new version of your video — a short clip, a different layout, a few tweaks — you have to duplicate the project or risk messing up your original.
The solution: Edits in Detail
With the Edits feature in Detail for iPhone and iPad, you can create multiple versions of your video inside the same project, keep your original untouched, and even let AI generate clips for you automatically.
Let’s break it down 👇
What are Edits?
Edits are separate timelines inside a single project. Think of them as parallel versions of your video — each with its own layout, captions, and structure — that you can tweak freely without touching the original.
This makes it perfect for:
YouTube creators who want long- and short-form versions
Coaches who record once and need multiple formats
Anyone who wants to quickly test variations and never lose their main edit
How to use Edits
Step 1: Open your project
After recording, tap the Edit icon (top left of your screen).
You’ll see two options:
Option 1: Start a New Edit
Create a fresh version of your video timeline:
Keeps the original intact
No need to duplicate your project
Rename it and make your changes — overlays, captions, new cuts — all without affecting the original
Perfect for A/B testing different intros, captions, or layouts.
Option 2: Tap Auto Edit and let Detail’s AI generate:
A long-form version (great for podcast-style content)
Multiple short clips with captions, ready for sharing
Each one appears as a separate timeline under Edits, so you can jump in, adjust, and publish without backtracking or redoing work.
Step 2: Experiment Freely
Want to tweak one of the auto-generated clips?
Tap into the clip
Tap Edits again → New Edit
Give it a name and test new captions, cuts, or B-roll
Your original stays safe the whole time ✅
Step 3: Manage Your Edits
Swipe left to delete an edit
Tap the three dots to rename or manage options
Each timeline is isolated — so it’s easy to stay organized and creative.
Bonus: Check your video score
Each clip shows a Video Score, giving you a quick insight into how well your content might perform online. Higher score = more likely to engage and attract viewers.
