Live streaming lets you connect with your audience in real time, whether you’re sharing updates, hosting a webinar, streaming gameplay, or recording a live podcast. In this guide, we’ll walk through how to go live step by step.

Open live streaming

From the home screen, tap Live streaming. You’ll see options to stream directly to platforms like YouTube, Twitch, LinkedIn, and Instagram. You can also stream to other platforms by using a custom stream URL or stream key.

Choose your streaming platforms

Select the platform or platforms you want to go live on. You can stream to one or two platforms at the same time, allowing you to reach multiple audiences without extra tools or complicated setups.

For example, you can stream to YouTube and LinkedIn simultaneously, or go live on Instagram and Twitch at the same time.

Set your video format

Before going live, choose whether you want to stream in horizontal or vertical format.

Horizontal works best for platforms like YouTube and LinkedIn, while vertical is ideal for Instagram or TikTok-style content. This ensures your stream fits the platform your audience is watching on.

Choose a layout

Select a layout that matches your content. You can use split screen for interviews, picture-in-picture to show yourself alongside a demo or presentation, or a single-camera view for simple streams.

You can also add titles, graphics, and overlays to give your live stream a polished, branded look.

(Optional) Stream with two devices

If you want a more advanced setup, you can connect two devices. For example, use two iPhones or an iPhone and an iPad. One device can act as your main camera, while the other can serve as a second angle or as a monitor so you can see your live stream in real time.

The same device connection process covered earlier in the series applies here as well.

Go live

Once your platforms, format, and layout are set, tap Go live. Within seconds, you’ll be broadcasting to your audience in real time.

That’s it. You’re now live.

In the next guide, we’ll cover how to use Detail with your iPad. See you in the next one.
