Recording a podcast or interview with guests in the same room doesn’t require a complex setup. In this guide, we’ll walk through the main options available and how to choose the one that fits your situation best.
Using front and back camera
From the Get Started menu, tap Podcast video and choose the Front and back camera option. This setup lets you record two angles at the same time using a single iPhone or iPad.
The front camera captures one angle, while the back camera captures another, making it ideal for recording yourself and a guest sitting across from you. The layout automatically switches to a split screen, so you can start recording right away.
If you want to adjust framing or switch layouts, you can do that before recording or later during editing.
Recording with one device
You can also record a podcast using just one iPhone or iPad. This is the simplest setup and works well if guests are sitting side by side or if you’re recording a solo podcast.
Position your device so everyone fits comfortably in frame, tap record, and you’re ready to go. Layout changes can still be made after recording if needed.
Recording with two devices
For a more polished, multi-angle look, you can record with two iPhones or iPads. Each person gets their own camera angle, and everything stays synced automatically.
To set this up, tap Connect on the second device and position it to capture the best angle. When you’re ready, tap the pink Record button. Detail handles syncing the footage behind the scenes.
Syncing high-quality footage
After recording, keep the app open for a short time so the high-quality local recordings can upload. Once synced, these replace the lower-quality preview versions automatically.
These options make it easy to record in-person podcasts and interviews, whether you want a simple setup or a more dynamic multi-camera look.
In the next guide, we’ll look at how to edit your podcast recording and get it ready for sharing. See you in the next one.
