Recording conversations with guests who aren’t in the same room is simple. In this guide, we’ll walk through how to record a podcast or interview remotely, from sending the invite link to capturing high-quality recordings for everyone involved.

Starting a remote podcast

From the Get Started menu, tap Podcast video. You’ll see several setup options, including one device, two devices, front and back camera, and Invite remote guests.

For remote recordings, select Invite remote guests.

Inviting your guests

After choosing invite remote guests, you’ll see an option to share a link. This creates a unique invite link you can send to your guest.

When your guest opens the link, they’ll have two ways to join. If they’re on iOS, they can join using the Detail app. If they’re not using an iPhone or iPad, they can join directly in their browser. No download is required, they simply open the link and connect.

Recording the conversation

Once your guest joins, their video feed appears directly inside your project. You can choose a layout that fits your conversation, such as side-by-side split screen, picture-in-picture, or another format.

When everything looks ready, tap the pink Record button. Detail records video and audio for everyone at the same time. You can pause and resume the recording as needed during the session.

Syncing high-quality recordings

After you finish recording, keep the app open for a short time. This allows the high-quality local recordings from each participant to upload and sync. Once synced, these replace the lower-quality live versions automatically.

This workflow makes it easy to record podcasts and interviews with guests anywhere, without complicated setups or extra software.

In the next guide, we’ll walk through how to record with two or more guests in the same room. See you in the next one.
